The climate zone characterized by extreme cold and ice is the polar climate zone. This zone is found near the North and South Poles and experiences long, harsh winters and short, cool summers. The polar climate zone is distinct from tropical, temperate, and arid climate zones, which have their own unique characteristics. Tropical zones are found near the equator and are typically warm and humid throughout the year. Temperate zones experience a mix of warm and cool seasons, while arid zones are characterized by very little precipitation, resulting in dry conditions. Each of these other climate zones has a climate that is significantly different from the extreme cold and ice of polar regions.
